“How do I make money from my blog?”
That’s a question that I hear a lot of bloggers ask.
Blogging still remains a legitimate way of earning money online. As long as you do things the right way, you will be able to transform your blog into a money making blog and earn an income; even possibly a steady income.
I’ve been blogging since 2009, but I didn’t get serious and attempting to make money from my blog until 2013. I was able to replace my full time income from my home business within months of starting to monetizing my blog.
I’ve decided to share with you on how I did that, but I’m breaking it down for you into a couple of posts. But first, see if your blog and you are ready to start making money with Mistakes People Make When Trying To Monetize.
Let’s start with Affiliate Marketing.
Affiliate marketing is a way for businesses to promote and advertise their services and products through a partnership with a publisher, blogger, or marketer.
Affiliate marketers make their money by promoting products and services on their website or blog.
Here’s an example for you:
Let’s say you have a blog on sharing DIY ideas. By doing affiliate marketing you would be able to do blog posts, text links, special social media updates, giveaways and more pertaining to DIY which are given to you by an affiliate marketing company. In return you would earn a commission on every product sale, click or referral made from that affiliate link that you use.
Affiliate Marketing can be a great, rewarding way to earn some extra money from your website or blog. Some people will even make their income solely from affiliate marketing.
I’ve complied a list of the affiliate companies that I have personally worked with during my time blogging.
Affiliate Window: They will connect you with niche retailers all the way to top consumer brands. They’ve partnered with companies like ETSY, LEGOLAND Discoveries Center, Nutri System, and many more. I love ETSY and Affiliate Window is so easy to implement on my blogs.
CenterPoint Media: CenterPoint Media is a performance-based media company. They are ideal for many types of bloggers including parenting, mom, coupon/deal and travel bloggers. They’ve worked with companies like The Honest Co., Baby Einstein, Whole Mom, York Photo, Kellogg’s, Jet.com and more. They offer several ways to add affiliate offers on your site; links, banners and social media creatives.
IZEA: **One of my favorites** IZEA connects bloggers with the world’s biggest brands. Bloggers get paid to blog, tweet, and take photos and videos. IZEA is so easy to use and can be a great tool to help you monetize.
Dedicated Media: Dedicated Media is a performance-based media company. They hold deep relationships with many of the biggest advertising agencies. They work with companies like Pillsbury, General Mills, Citrus Lane, Beachbody, SavingStar and more. Much like CenterPoint Media, they are ideally for mom, parent or deal bloggers because their offers and links are catered to those types of blogs.
Escalate Network: They are one of the leading performance ad network for family friendly, coupon and food blogs and brands. Escalate Network has offers for brands like Coupons.com, Disney Books, Wayfair.com, Zulily and more. They are very similar to CenterPoint Media and Dedicated Media.
ShopHer Media: This is one of my favorites. ShopHer Media’s performance speaks for itself among the major brands and agencies. They’ve partnered with companies like Pepsi, Coupons.com, Red Plum coupons, Prilosec, Julep Maven, Pampers and Shoe Dazzle.
Commission Junction: Connect with name brands and stores like Kmart, QVC, Books-a-Million, Lowes, Red Plum and 100’s more. You simply apply to a brand that CJ (Commission Junction) has partnered up with. Once you’re approved, you’ll implement links or banners from your favorite brands in your posts or sidebar.
Amazon Affiliate: Share items from Amazon and earn when someone purchases that product. (only available in certain states)
ShareASale.com: Connect with name brands including Checkout 51, Ink Garden, The Children’s Place and more. Earn different ways.
LinkShare: Connect with brands like Walmart, Kohl’s, Macy’s and Best Buy + 100’s more. When someone clicks on your links and purchases a product from your link, you’ll earn a commission from their purchase. Very similar to CJ and is easy to use.
Mother’s Lounge: If you have a mom blog or frugal type blog then this one is for you. Mother’s Lounge sells high quality products for mom and babies. You earn a commission each time someone purchase one of their (free) products. I love working with them.
I know I just shared with you on how to make money with your blog, but PLEASE DO NOT let making money from your blog get in the way of the reason you started blogging. Don’t go blasting you blog with affiliate links. Do it gracefully.
Each one of the companies listed above have several different ways that you’re able to promote their product or service. You can choose to place a small banner on your site or implement links within your posts. Whichever way that you decide to use affiliate companies on your site can be a fruitful method of monetizing your blog.
Let me know if you have any questions. I’d love to answer them.
